Lecture by Agnete Sivertsen – “The Beautiful Breast Cloths from Holmen in Ulvik”

From 1807, the three Kølle sisters lived at Holmen in Ulvik. The eldest, Catharine Hermine Kølle, is known as a landscape painter, travel writer, and for her long hiking journeys both in Norway and abroad. The sisters also worked with fine needlecraft, and this lecture is about the very distinctive breast cloths they made, the so-called Holmabringklutar.

Agnete Sivertsen is educated in cultural studies and works as curator at Hardanger folkemuseum. At the museum, she also teaches traditional costume courses, including how to make breast cloths.

The lecture will be given in Norwegian.
