Spor i tid

The exhibition Spor i tid by Maren Sofie Strømme is on display at Skredhaugen from June 21 to August 15. The exhibition is open every Saturday from 3 to 6, and at Wednesdays if Friends of Skredhaugen have an event.

Strømme has been painting for more than 35 years, and has had numerous exhibitions in Norway. Recently she participated in the art festival Ljosanótt på Iceland, until September 2024, and was a guest artist at Art67 Galleri Reykjavik 2023.

As a medium, she uses acrylic, acrylic paint and acrylic ink, but different types of texture. She uses various techniques to achieve contrast between color, texture and patina. Depth created with transparent shades layer by layer. The artist is concerned with capturing the mood of the seasons with interesting contrasts and play of colors, light and atmosphere. Artists have always been fascinated by how the seasons and weather leave their mark on nature and old historical buildings, and try to transfer this to the canvas to bring out a washed out and aged impression, and give the painting an interesting expression for viewers.

She gathers natural experiences from the rugged, raw coastal landscape of Norway’s Vestlandskysten, and from Iceland, where her grandmother was from, with all its unique contrasts and natural forces, as well as the urban cityscape, walls, plasterwork, old wallpaper that carries with it an exciting history from a bygone era.
