Om arrangementet

Skredhaugen opens for the season on Sunday, June 23, at 6:00 PM.

Summer is starting at Skredhaugen in Lofthus. This year, the magnificent art collection of Jon Bleie is on display. The collection includes works by Henrik Sørensen, Harald Kihle, Kristi Meland, and other artist friends of Jon Bleie. In Nilsastova, the exhibition «Mellom bakkar og berg» opens, featuring paintings by Rolf Øidvin.

Unique Concert

During the opening program, there will be a unique concert with folk musician Vegard Vårdal. He will play on a violin made by Trond Isaksen Flatabø in 1764. The violin is owned by the Hardanger Folk Museum and is the oldest known Norwegian-made violin. Luthier Lukas Pawelka built a replica of this violin, and at the concert, you will hear both the original violin and the newly built one. Vegard will enchant the audience with both traditional fiddle tunes and music from old 18th-century music books.

Vegard Vårdal was named Folk Musician of the Year in 2020 and received recognition for his playing with the Gammleng Award in 2021. He travels extensively as an educator and is currently busy writing string orchestra music for young talents. If you want a glimpse of Vegard, check out Instagram where he posts a new tune every day – Norwegianfiddle or vevardal.

Café by the Friends of Skredhaugen

The Friends of Skredhaugen will have a café during the event, offering coffee and cakes.
